1981

Found this old (but brand new!) coffe maker from my parents house. It reminds me the teachers room from my old school. My dad was a teacher there (he still is) and my mom was a secretary (that included making the coffee, of course). I was maybe 4-5 years old, just hanging around there (I didn't go to kindergarten). I remember 2 kettles like this being constantly on and the smell of fresh coffe was all over the place. I couldn't wait to grow up to get to drink this stuff that smelled so-so sophisticated :)

Inspiral Carpets

Morbid Morning

Yesterday Noora found a dead bird from the garden. She buried it and decorated the grave. I think it's just beautiful!

Then she had some breakfast and found a skull in her sandwich. She was really happy about the find :)

Chaos

The water pump in our house decided to broke down. I was there alone with kids (Kalle was rehearsing in Tallinn, but I'll post later about that), so the timing was just great! Woke up in the morning and nothing but air came out from the water tap. So I packed our stuff and drove to my parents place (120 km) to have some coffee and get a shower :)
Later Kalle tried to fix the system, but no luck. He thinks some parts inside the bloody pump have melted (because it had been working empty without any water, sucking a lot of air, all night) or something.

The Vacation Is Ending...

Noora has this little tradition to send a postcard from the cottage to her grandparents before the summer ends. This year she chose a card illustrated by an artist named Ilon Wikland.
Ilon is mostly known by the beautiful pictures of Astrid Lindgren books (such as Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, The Six Bullerby Children etc.)
Ilon Wikland (born Maire-Ilon Pääbo) was born in Estonia, but her family escaped to Sweden (from the occupation of the Soviet Union) in 1944. She was 14 years old at the time. 6 years later she met Astrid and a wonderful partnership of creating these nice warmhearted books began.
