Fishing

Last Sunday we took the kids fishing for the first time. Didn't expect to get any fish, because the location was totally random, but we did! 11 of them in 2 hours! Tasted heavenly!

Magic Mushrooms

Sorry, I've been such a lazy blogger recently :( I'll make it up to you now! Another post from the last weekend coming right up!

So we spent 2 lovely days in the cottage again. It was fun to pack our kids and the cat and all the stuff to our really small car (Suzuki Swift) :) We used all the space there is. It was the very first car trip for Vera. We didn't dare to let her outside. Because she's not afraid of outer space, street cat as she is. But she enjoyed staying indoors catching flies (there are no flies in the city) very much.

Our summer neighbour ordered some cow "leftovers" form a local farmer as an organic boost for her flowers and vegetables. But he brought them obviously too much! So now I'm helping her to get rid of it as much as I can. So I went to get some for my phloxes and I saw these weird mushrooms inside this huge poo mountain. Next I accidently hit one with my shovel. And a baby snake came out of it! Luckily it was a grass snake (not poisonous) again. Most of the eggs shells were empty already. So as I kept digging, I collected 12 little ones all together to a bucket. Plus 3 eggs. One of the eggs was a bit opened and a baby was ready to be born, so Noora got to be a snake doula :D She loved it! Tuudur was a bit jealous saying he'd like a snake of his own :) I didn't realise before my kids are such a hippies! I'm so happy they take care of smaller creatures and are not afraid of the nature we have here.

P.S. I'm sorry if you find these pics disturbing. I bet I would too if I didn't have a live experience :)

Yesterday...

...I was a busy bee. Lots of digging and planting. Today my whole body hurts (maybe these stones were a bit too heavy for me to lift from one place to another. To another) :D

So what did I plant this time?
Acinos Alpinus
Alcea Rosea
Achillea Millefolium "Cerise Queen"
Thymus Citriodorus "Silver Posy"
Salvia Nemorosa "Rosenwein"
Salvia Nemorosa "Schneehügel"

These I planted last year. I wish you could smell them!
And the water is running again! Thanks to my father and Kalle - men with golden hands!

Chaos

The water pump in our house decided to broke down. I was there alone with kids (Kalle was rehearsing in Tallinn, but I'll post later about that), so the timing was just great! Woke up in the morning and nothing but air came out from the water tap. So I packed our stuff and drove to my parents place (120 km) to have some coffee and get a shower :)
Later Kalle tried to fix the system, but no luck. He thinks some parts inside the bloody pump have melted (because it had been working empty without any water, sucking a lot of air, all night) or something.

The Vacation Is Ending...

Noora has this little tradition to send a postcard from the cottage to her grandparents before the summer ends. This year she chose a card illustrated by an artist named Ilon Wikland.
Ilon is mostly known by the beautiful pictures of Astrid Lindgren books (such as Pippi Longstocking, Karlsson-on-the-Roof, The Six Bullerby Children etc.)
Ilon Wikland (born Maire-Ilon Pääbo) was born in Estonia, but her family escaped to Sweden (from the occupation of the Soviet Union) in 1944. She was 14 years old at the time. 6 years later she met Astrid and a wonderful partnership of creating these nice warmhearted books began.
